I'm not submissive in my day to day life, I'm not Dom either, I think people need to be willing and able to make their own mistakes and pursue their own dreams. I feel that we are, at heart, spiritual beings and the only way we will reach a greater understanding of our purpose and place in the universe is through honest introspection and a willingness to see things from a different perspective. The world of D/s give us an opportunity to explore an altered state of mind, an alternate reality and can be a very powerful tool in the exploration of our inner selves. My submission to date has only been for finite periods of time, I have submitted to both sexes, despite an inner conviction that I am heterosexual by nature. It requires an ego bypass to allow others to control and use you in such an intimate manner, but I think I come out the other side richer. I have considered 24x7 but I doubt it would work for me, she would need to be someone I admired as extremely wise, an old soul as the Buddhist would say, but even then, a truly wise mentor would, I think, feel that a sub needs space to grow, make their own mistakes and explore their own path. 24x7 would need to encompass much much more than D/s. To submit long term requires that you see your partner as someone with a steady hand on the tiller, someone who can rise above the day to day noise of life, see the uplands and guide you to a better place. Do such people exist ? I'm sure they do, we just need to find the one with whom we have an instinct understanding of each other, our soul mate..
