Respect is earned, not given. This is a common saying that I agree with, and I think it applies equally or moreso to submission. I want to be the kind of man who earns your respect and I want to be the kind dom who earns your submission. I want to show you that I am someone to whom you can entrust yourself, so you are free to let go and give yourself freely and fully to me. That takes time, but I am nothing if not patient.

I am not looking for a mindless slave. I want a whole person who craves clarity of instruction and purpose.

As for my tastes and preferences, it should be obvious from my username that I am interested in pain, but not actually into anything super extreme. Pain fascinates me for the way it can immediately focus the mind on the here and now, pushing everything else away, leaving you ready to listen and obey.

I have other fetishes and kinks, of course, but rather than make a list of desired activities, I'd rather open a dialogue to discuss and negotiate. However, if you aren't open to spanking and a bit of hair pulling at minimum, this probably won't work out, so I like to get that one out there.
