Dabbled sunlight traces its way through the fullness of the woods as she walks barefoot away from the river. she is in a daze. senses thrown to the wind by the intensity of the gaze from across the river. Although she is unaware, she walks as one with the woods, never a branch scratches her or log bars her path.
Who is He? she asks herself. she had never seen another human in this section of the wood. Should she go back? Demand He explain His presence?
It isn't until she is almost upon her own cabin that she realizes that she never put back on her dress. It must still be on a random rock at the river. she giggles nervously. Maybe she really is becoming the wood nymph she was feeling like when first standing at the waters edge.
The sunlight seems to crackle with intensity in the simple cabin. Living room with kitchen off to one side decorated in warm earth tones and tribal art. Two heavy oak doors on the back wall lead to the bathroom and bedroom respectively. she grabs a plush throw from the couch and curls into a corner, wrapped in the throw to ponder more upon what she had just felt.
she has no fear that she was followed yet she was still unsettled. He was on the far bank and the woods had hid her for so long from the outside world that to think that would change now was not even a passing breeze in her mind. yet the presence was there. she closed her eyes and reached down into the earth. she felt slightly rattled.....unsteady and needed to be grounded. the sounds of the wood through her open windows fell away leaving just the sigh of the earth under her. |
