Before you start, turn off the television.

Turn off the lights and close the blinds. Make the room dark

Turn off your email and your IM clients.

Put your phone on vibrate, and leave it in another room.

Turn off all distractions.

Relax.

Find a comfortable position in your chair.
Feet flat on the floor.

Hands resting on the desk, with one finger on the mouse wheel so you can scroll the text

Now.

Breathe in while you count slowly to three.

Exhale for a count of two.

Once again, breathe in. Hold the breath

Imagine the cares of the day drifting from the top of your head.

Like smoke.

Exhale.

Nothing matters except breathing.

Turn off all other thoughts

Breathe

Let your problems drift from you

Like smoke

Relax

Breathe

With each exhale, imagine the day’s tensions leaving your body with your breath

As you sink deeper into your chair

More and more relaxed

Breathe

Deeper and deeper

Feel the muscles in your jaw loosen

Your neck

Your shoulders

Your chest

Your arms

Your legs

And breathe

Feel the sensation of drifting lazily downward

Let yourself drift
Feel your arms become heavy

Heavy

And breathe

A feeling of calmness and contentment

As your entire body becomes limp and relaxed

The muscles in your back are relaxing

Almost like a mental massage

Feel it. Feel the rhythm as you breathe

All the way down your spine

As your body continues to drift downward. Slowly

Breathe

Notice how the world begins to close in, like tunnel vision

Everything around your drifts away. Fades into the background

Only the screen remains

Only the words on the screen

Begin the journey into your own inner world

Breathe

Drift towards that special part of you

That only you can go to

Relax and drift down towards that comfortable place

Let go of your distractions

Let go of the room

The chair

Your body

Breathe

Relax

Let your mind wander wherever it wants to go.
