I was chatting on another app earlier and I was asked what collaring meant to me. The person I was chatting with said that to him, it was a symbol of ownership, that it meant that the person he collared was to be there for his use whenever he wanted. To him it was simply a physical symbol of possession, a sign to those around that his sub was owned and off limits. While it's impossible to say that he's wrong, given that everything is about how you choose to interpret it, I feel he is approaching it from the wrong viewpoint. I told him that any sub that has given themselves to a Dom could be viewed as such. To me, collaring is a rite of trust and acceptance between a Dom and sub, something that binds them together similar to an engagement ring. I feel that collaring is a symbol of love and acceptance that is the ultimate step a Dom can take with their sub. As i said though, there are no wrong interpretations as long as everyone involved is satisfied with the outcome. |
