I recently had an opportunity to own a slave. I had to decline because I am not at a point in my life that I feel I can significantly provide as I should to this slave. I got to thinking that... Owning a slave is a very big commitment. Much like having children, it is a huge undertaking as far as time, and money, etc. I would want my slave to be mine all the time. And I am working hard in school to be able to achieve the financial freedom to have that. A slave would be to me someone that would stay home, and ideally work only minimally to help out when needed. I would like to provide for my slave much like any good master would do going back thousands of years. I am saddened that I hear from time to time about these so-called masters that can barely provide for themselves much less their supposed slaves. Obviously providing for someone other than oneself takes more time and commitment than the usual day to day. I look at my friends with children, and cannot fathom the commitment they put forth everyday. I would hope that some "masters" would consider this in choosing a future slave to be a live in concubine, etc., etc. We all have a great yet finite time on this earth. We each have enough time though to make ourselves the optimal humans we should be. When one chooses their path in life, one must factor in the future responsibilities that will come along with that journey. Be prepared. And of course never do anything half-assed.
